Notarial acts & additional services

Notarial acts verify identity and signatures or administer oaths. Travel and document support are separate services, subject to confirmation.

Notarial act

Acknowledgments

Confirm your identity and acknowledge that you signed a document. An acknowledgment can cover an existing signature, but you must still appear before the notary.

Notarial act

Oaths, affirmations & jurats

Make a sworn or affirmed statement for an affidavit or other document. For a jurat, the signer takes an oath or affirmation and signs before the notary.

Notarial act

Signature witnessing

Sign before a notary who verifies your identity and witnesses or attests your signature. This is distinct from a separate document witness required by the receiving party.

Appointment option

Mobile & workplace visits

A notary may travel to a home, workplace, hospital, or care facility. Confirm availability, facility access, identification, and any travel charges before arranging a visit.

Document support

Loan-signing coordination

Printing, appointment coordination, signing logistics, and document return can support lender or title-company packages. Any notarization is separate; legal questions and loan terms belong with your attorney or lender.

Administrative support

Apostille submission assistance

Document delivery and submission coordination can help with international paperwork. The Illinois Secretary of State issues Illinois apostilles and certificates of authority, not the notary.

Additional authorization required

Electronic notarization

Electronic documents may be notarized by a properly commissioned Illinois electronic notary using an approved system. Confirm the provider’s authorization, technology, and document eligibility; this service is not confirmed as available here.

Administrative support

Printing, scanning & document delivery

Related support can include printing completed documents, scanning signed copies, and arranging their return. These services do not include drafting legal documents, legal advice, or certifying a copy merely by scanning it.

Before your appointment

  • Bring the full document and an unexpired government-issued ID with your photograph and signature.
  • Ask the receiving organization or your attorney which notarial act and certificate are needed.
  • Wait to sign until instructed. Jurats and signature witnessing require signing before the notary.
  • Confirm any separate witness requirements, appointment location, and total charges in advance.
  • Do not send identity documents or sensitive legal paperwork through the general contact form.

Know the limits

Notarization does not establish that a document is legally sufficient. A notary commission is not a license to practice law; document drafting, legal interpretation, and advice should go to a licensed attorney.

For vital records and court records, obtain certified copies from the issuing office. Apostille requirements depend on the document and its destination.

These are service options, not a representation that Nexus holds a notary commission or currently offers every listed service. Confirm the assigned notary’s active commission and the requested service before relying on an appointment.
