Quick Answer

What is the difference between UL 1069 and UL 2560?

The short answer

UL 1069 addresses hospital signaling and nurse-call equipment; UL 2560 addresses emergency-call systems for assisted and independent living. Both evaluate complete systems, not just a button or pendant. Verify the exact certification and covered configuration, then separately confirm the facility's applicable requirements. Mixed care alone does not establish a dual-listing requirement.

Which one applies to your building

UL describes evaluation of the complete system, including basic safety and call transmission. Ask for the certification record and its covered system, components and configuration. A mark on one device does not establish approval of the whole installation. Confirm occupancy requirements separately with the project's design professional and code official.

Distinguish the named standard from the organization issuing the certification. Check the relevant certification directory; Intertek provides public product directories. This answer does not verify a Jeron or RCare model or configuration.

Why it matters beyond compliance

Keep the certification evidence with the proposed configuration and project requirements so reviewers can check what was evaluated. Certification does not by itself guarantee suitability for a particular occupancy, installation acceptance or a favorable survey.
