What drives the cost of nurse call modernization?
The short answer
To compare nurse call modernization costs, request separate allowances for call points and staff devices, infrastructure work, selected integrations, installation phasing, acceptance checks and training. Include maintenance and replacement coverage over the same planning period. Do not assume that a per-bed figure or a wired-versus-wireless label describes equivalent scope or the facility’s actual requirements.

Price the site conditions explicitly
Ask the survey team to distinguish confirmed reusable infrastructure from items that still need investigation. Require stated assumptions for room access, work hours, ceiling restoration and temporary arrangements. Have the facility’s qualified reviewers approve the proposed approach; a lower initial price is not evidence that the configurations meet the same requirements.
Compare initial and ongoing obligations
- Quantities and models of call devices, controllers and staff notification equipment
- Included interfaces, licenses and customer-supplied network or power work
- Phased installation, documented acceptance checks and staff training sessions
- Maintenance owner, service hours, dispatch charges and replacement eligibility
- Optional upgrades, exclusions and the pricing method for approved scope changes
