What should be included in UniFi Protect?
The short answer
A UniFi Protect scope should connect each camera to an operational purpose, then specify the proposed camera, recording platform, storage assumptions, cabling and network dependencies. Include who can view or export recordings, how staff preserve an incident, and who handles equipment faults. Agree on acceptance checks for image usefulness and recording availability before installation begins.

Describe what each view needs to show
A camera count does not explain whether the finished views will answer the intended questions. Identify entrances, loading areas or other approved locations, the activity staff need to review, and the lighting conditions to check. Have the customer approve camera placement and privacy boundaries before selecting final positions.
Include the work behind the cameras
- A location schedule with camera models, mounting arrangements and cable routes
- Recorder selection and storage calculations tied to the chosen recording settings
- Network ports, power, cabinet space and backup-power responsibilities
- Named viewing and administration roles, plus an incident-export demonstration
- As-built records, operator training, maintenance scope and fault escalation
