How do you plan multi-site technology standards?
The short answer
Inventory the portfolio and group locations by operating needs, size and infrastructure constraints. Compare existing designs and support problems, then create a baseline for each site type rather than forcing every building into one equipment list. Pilot representative locations, record exceptions and use acceptance evidence to decide when a design is ready for wider rollout.

Choose a representative starting point
Include both a typical site and a location with known constraints in the planning review. Document the applications, carrier services and building systems that each design must support. Separate portfolio-wide requirements from local preferences, and name the decision owner for security, networking, facilities and procurement questions.
Roll out a controlled design version
- Publish the approved design, equipment options and documentation templates together
- Record site survey findings before confirming the rollout scope
- Define who can approve exceptions and how support teams receive them
- Collect commissioning results and close unresolved items before service handover
- Review pilot lessons and update the version before the next group of sites
