Quick Answer

What should be included in UniFi Access?

The short answer

Scope UniFi Access door by door. Identify the existing opening, proposed reader and controller, compatible locking hardware, power and network provisions, and the approved entry and exit behavior. Include credential administration, schedules, event review and operator training. Have qualified project reviewers resolve egress and required life-safety interfaces before installation; a product list alone does not establish an acceptable door design.

Treat the opening as a complete assembly

Survey the door, frame, closer, lock and surrounding pathways together. Identify mechanical repairs or other trade work that must occur before electronic access can be accepted. Document the intended behavior during normal use, loss of services and any required emergency interface, with the responsible reviewer named. Record approved exceptions instead of leaving unusual openings outside the schedule.

Include administration as well as hardware

  • Door schedule identifying included hardware and customer-furnished components
  • Approved credential types, user groups and operating schedules
  • Network, power, cabinet and pathway responsibilities
  • Supervised acceptance checks agreed with the project team
  • User enrollment and removal instructions, records and support contacts
